All volumes bound in red cloth with black and gilt title plates to spines. Top edges gilt; other edges untrimmed. Each volume has a colour frontispiece and is illustrated with black and white plates. Set shows usual shelfwear to outer extremites of boards and spines; titles plates on spines a bit worn. Spines are also a bit faded. Some volumes show light dampstaining to the pages and the tail of the spines. The first blank page of volumes one appears to be torn out.
