Bound in green pebbled cloth with gilt title and rule to spine, blind rule border to front and beveled edges to boards, brown endpapers. Illustrated with black and white a black and white frontispiece in each volume. Cloth overall well rubbed and worn at head and heel of of spine with some loss of fabric and a little fraying at very head and heel, front pastedown hinge volume one and rear pastedown hinge volume two paper cracking but still firmly bound; former owner's signature to recto of page following on endpaper, offset to verso slightly, both volumes; page edges darkened and with a little soil, and foxing both volumes. Rare.
