13.5 cm x 8 cm, bound in 6's, pp. 139 (index and map legend), large clean, bright folding map of the "City of Quebec" in rear drawn by J. Hamel, Surveyor, printed by P. Desobry's Lith. 62 Beaver St., 8 engraved plates (includes frontispiece and extra engraved title-page, for a total of 16 small attractive steel engraved views), half-title. Original illustrated boards with vignette to upper cover and adverts to lower cover, rebacked in gilt-stamped calf, newer marbled endpapers, small tape repair to map, otherwise a near fine, bright copy in fine matching slipcase. TPL 1537; Lande 1599. One of the views called for in the list of illustrations "the New Exchange" was not issued but appeared on the map, issued later. The building was not finished at the time of publication.
