Pp. viii, 488, 38 [appendices]. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, gilt-ruled spine between raised bands, gilt armorial device (griffin?) in upper compartment, gilt morocco label, armorial bookplate of Sir Edward W. Watkin on pastedown. Minor rubbing to extremities, upper front joint split (but holding firmly on cords), otherwise in very good condition. Sir Francis Bond Head was Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada from 1835-38, during which time he was responsible for the suppression of the Rebellion led by William Lyon Mackenzie in 1837. The work gives his account of the Rebelion as well as other matters of his administration.
