Kate worked in the theatre in Pasadena and Carmel where she became known to many artists and writers including John Steinbeck, Willem Moberg and his translator Gustaf Lannestock and his wife, and Robinson Jeffers. Pp. [154], with many black & white photo reproductions, including cover photo, taken by Anna Greta Persson, who was Moberg's personal secretary while in Carmel. One photo of Moberg on a staged bucking bronco signed: Lucile and Gustaf from Texas Bill. Blue cloth boards, dark blue spine title. Near fine copy in a very good plus dust jacket. Enclosed is a personal, undated TLs from Anna Greta Persson to Katie, assumed to be around Xmas 1990 based on the last line wishing Katie "the very best for the coming 1991" and talking about Moberg and Lannestock, also a photocopied review of the book by Walter Johnson (University of Washington) from The Swedish Pioneer Historical Quarterly April 1978.
