Full tree-calf binding, ornate gilt-stamped spine decorations, two gilt-stamped leather spine labels (one in red, the other in black with inlaid piece in red). Light to medium spotting to endpapers, prelims, and plates, light offsetting within text, volumes 2 & 3 contain the armorial bookplate of Peter Sherston Esq. Joints and spine ends lightly rubbed, volume 1 with nick to heel, volume 3 with chip to head of spine and loss of headband, spine gilt faded, otherwise, a very good, handsome set.
