Pp. 623. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in half red leather over red cloth, French curl marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, frontispiece portrait, richly illustrated throughout with many drawings and photo reproductions from the collection of Dr. Wills. Loosely inserted is a handwritten "poem" signed by Morier and dated 19 Aug. 1833: "Inglis [asserts?] 'his' the [approach?] of Kings / If Jews turn lawgivers: but he's mistaken. / In this our [???], Jews are the very Kings / For since they eat no Pork, they'll save our Bacon." Covers very lightly scuffed, spine gently faded with gilt still clean and bright, overall a very good, clean, tight, bright copy. Quite handsome on the shelf, and highly collectible with the handwritten poem.
