London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1926. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good / Very Good. Item #42480
4to. viii, plus tipped-in frontispiece, 51 plates on heavy bond paper, all with captioned tissue-guards, and signed plate "School for Those About to Become Cartoonists", in rear pocket. Green cloth with beveled boards, gilt lettering, all edges gilt. From the library of Canadian literary giant Robertson Davies, with his bookplate to front pastedown, lower corners bumped, cream dust jacket slightly soiled and lightly tanned at flap crease and along spine, chipping at head of spine with one pull and a small "v" chip from head of rear panel. Limited edition of 280 copies, of which 250 are for sale, this is no. 94 signed by Beerbohm. Buff coloured dust jacket with green lettering bearing the rare tipped-on slip (not mentioned in Gallatin & Oliver) to the front cover, reading: "Each copy of this edition contains, in a pocket at the back, an additional print, in colour, signed by the Artist." Overall, a highly collectible copy in the scarce dust jacket, retaining the rare tipped-on slip.
