Engraved frontispiece to each volume, vols. 2 & 4 by F. Bartolozzi after G.B. Cipriani, & vol. 3 by F. Bartolozzi after E.F. Burney. Generous musical examples throughout the text, including a great many engraved music scores. Vols. 2-4 uniformly bound in original full calf, sympathetic re-backing with original tooled spine laid down, original gilt-stamped double spine labels in red and green leather, corners consolidated, new endpapers. Embedded within each title-page is a small square with the printed words, (invisible unless looked at with a backlight), "Disposed of by The India Office." Covers worn and scuffed, else a very good set. The first volume is from a different set, re-backed with gilt lettered spine with harp devices in blind to the compartments. Scuffed marbled boards, ink gift inscription to English organist and composer J. G. Elvey to the front blank, clean throughout bu the plates at rear are foxed. A mismatched, but complete set.
