2 Volumes. 4to. Bound in full dark blue leather with gilt lettering to the spines. Top edges gilt, with gold and blue marbled endpapers. Light wear to the board corners, leather touched-up with colour, small blue marker scuff to the front board of volume 2, with heavy wear to the spine head and gouge to the spine of volume 1, also touched-up with colour. A very presentable set, clean throughout and the binding tight and square. Edition totaling 325 copies, with 3 printed on vellum. This set is no. 39 of the 300 copies for sale. The text of this edition has been prepared from that of the First English translation, printed by Isaac Jaggard for Matthew Lownes in 1625. The wood engravings have been re-cut by R.J. Beedham and E. Joyce Francis from those in the edition printed by The Brothers Gregorii at Venice in 1492. A very nice edition of Boccaccio's Decameron.
