London: Day and Son, 1855. Hardcover. Very Good / No Jacket. Item #44322

Second edition. Small 4to, vi, 178pp. 28 lithographed plates (including 13 chromolithographs) In original embossed black papier mache covers, recently rebacked in black leather with gilt lettering. Marbled endpapers renewed. A number of cracks to covers, open leaves a little spotted, sporadic marginal soiling [thumbprints] throughout, small ink numbers to the copyright page and to the upper outside corner of the last blank, but on the whole a good copy internally, in a well-preserved example of this odd little bi-way in the development of publisher's bindings.
