Light foxing to the title-page and very occasional light foxing throughout, with a presentation inscription to the front endpaper awarding this book to a Pauline Stringer in 1933 at Sparrow Lake Camp. Dust jacket with a few short closed tears at the edges, spine faded and a little darkened, in the original publisher provided card slipcase, with heavy wear. Uncommon 1812 novel, scarce with the dust jacket and slipcase. With 5 illustrations by L. A. Govey.
