Toronto: Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, 1976. No Binding. Signed. Near Fine. Item #45370

A collection of several documents relating to the 1976 meeting, in which members would be elected for the 1977 term. Meeting was held on November 27, 1976, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. An excellent archival look at the RCA's membership in the mid-1970s, including a menu signed by a number of RCA members, including Gordon Adaskin, Ted Kingan, Tony Tascona, and Arthur Horsfall, along with an original drawing in excellent condition by Horsfall on the back of the dinner menu. Included here: [1] A copy of the dinner menu, signed by seven members and partners: Arthur Horsfall, who included his wife's name, Katherine, in his signature; Katherine Horsfall; Gordon Adaskin; Valerie Giles, an artist located in BC but not an RCA member; Ted Kingan; Tony Tascona; and one other, unidentified signature. [2] A second copy of the dinner menu, the back of which includes an original pen drawing by Arthur Horsfall. [3] The list (1pp, single-sided)) of newly elected council members in 1977; members remaining on the council for the completion of their term; and the recipients of the 1977 RCA Medal, Archie F. Key and Douglas M. Duncan. [4] The list of new members elected in 1977 (1pp. single-sided). On the back of the listing of the new members elected, there is an address listed for Mayta Markson, of 15 Poplar Plains Crescent, along with directions: south of St Clair and west of Avenue Road. A number that is presumably a phone number is included: 925 8017. [5] The 1977-1978 full list of members in alphabetical order, by discipline, and by province. 42 pp. [6] The Executive Director's Report given by Ann J. Nelles on November 27, 1976, along with the budget for the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts for 1977-1978. 7 pp. [7] The Auditor's Report from Clarkson, Gordon & Co to confirm the financial statements for the RCA. 6 pp. [8] The list (1pp. single-sided) of newly elected council members in 1976; members remaining on the council for the completion of their term; and the recipients of the 1976 RCA Medal, Walter Jungkind and John Grierson.
