Large 8vo. Pp. 128, 20p. ads. Pale glue/green cloth with pictorial front cover, spine, and circular illustration to the rear cover designed by Louis Fairfax Muckley. The cover design, border, initial letters, and the whole of the full-page illustrations - with the exception of the three to 'Pausias and Glycers' by James W. R. Linton-are by Louis Fairfax Muckley. A beautifully designed book from a very important time in book design and illustration. Very light bumping to the spine ends, with a tiny brown mark at the spine foot, corners lightly bumped, endpapers foxed, with occasional foxing throughout, but with heavier foxing to the preface and t.p., especially the guards. An American edition was also printed in 1895 designed by and with the illustrations of Will Bradley. Lovely book.
