Original green cloth with gilt device and lettering to front cover, gilt titles to spine, very light bumping to corners and spine ends, without breakage or wear, spine lightly sunned, yellow coated endpapers, with bookplate and name in ink to the paste-down, super fresh copy. Boards clean and bright, contents too, real smart copy of the first edition of this narrative, often found in the second edition. Sir Francis Bond Head was Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada from 1835-38, during which time he was responsible for the suppression of the Rebellion led by William Lyon Mackenzie in 1837. The work gives his account of the Rebelion as well as other matters of his administration.
