First edition thus. 8vo. Pp. ix, 241, [2]. Folding map rear and 75 coloured plates with captioned guards. Decorated brown cloth boards, top edge gilt, ink seller stamp to lower front endpaper, and previous owner's name in ink, with evidence of an earlier name removed. Tears to the paper over rear hinge, book cocked and bowed, resulting in some bowing to the text, light foxing to the fore-edge, a few scuffs and a faint stain to the spine, and a small blemish to the front cover. Still a pretty good copy.
