Carrara Marble Bust of Augustus Caesar - Italian Grand Tour Souvenir, c. 1890 . A finely carved Carrara marble bust depicting Augustus Caesar, the first Roman Emperor, portrayed as a young man. A 19th-century Italian Grand Tour memento, produced in Italy circa 1890. The rear edge of the base bears a label reading "Italy - Country of Origin," consistent with export regulations in place at the time (prior to the 1914 amendment requiring "Made in" labels). Also present are inscriptions in pencil, including a name and the word "Rome" beneath what appears to be a signature. The bust itself is in excellent condition, with only minor surface nicks and no cracks or structural damage. The original swivel base, however, shows signs of wear: it has been cracked, chipped, and repaired at some point in its history. Dimensions: Height with swivel base: 23 inches, without base: 18 inches.
