Scimitar-Horned Oryx Horns
No Binding. Very Good. Item #49002
Pair of Scimitar-Horned Oryx horns, held together by wire (no plate mount), measuring approximately 31 inches overall at the longest point. There is some minor scuffing but no breakage or loss. The Scimitar Horned Oryx is an antelope species native to North Africa. Its coat is mostly white, with reddish brown coloring on the neck and chest and distinctive black facial and nose markings. Both males and females carry long, backwards curving, ridged horns; in this species, the horns are among the longest of all Oryx, and make a particularly dramatic display. This example is ex museum, with provenance available. Ideal for natural history or educational displays, this set offers a visually powerful way to showcase anatomy and conservation themes, especially given that Scimitar Horned Oryx are now classified as Endangered and were long thought extinct in the wild. Acquired by museum before 1980.
