Double Persephone

Toronto: Hawkshead Press, 1961. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good. Item #49545

[170 x 130 mm] Original illustrated card covers designed by Margaret Atwood. The author's first book of poetry. The text block stapled, then glued in at the spine, detached here from the poor glue used and left as is in its original state. The covers are toned, bottom corner lightly bumped, with chipping to the spine head of covers. A few other little creases and faint water spots, and darkened at the spine, presumably from the cement glue used by Atwood in production. This is the first state, after many copies, Atwood stopped gluing the text-block in and stapled it right to the covers, stapled copies are considered slightly later, or the second issue. This is the first issue. One of approximately 230 produced. Collects seven poems; Formal Garden, Pastoral, Iconic Landscape, Persephone Departing, Chthonic Love, Her Song, and Double Persephone. Book One in the Market Book Series issued by John Robert Colombo's Hawkshead Press.

Price (CAD): $5,000.00
