8vo, pp. 97, [1]. With tissue guarded frontispiece and 3 plates, one folding. Original pictorial cloth boards illustrated by John Hassall. Boards darkened at the edges, spine also darkened; front cover illustration scratched and scuffed. Corners and spine ends bumped, with light wear to the cloth at the head and foot of the spine. Christmas gift inscription dated 1903 to the front endpaper. Light foxing throughout, though overall a well-preserved copy in a tight and square binding. An account of the Duke of the Abruzzi's polar expedition, which surpassed Fridtjof Nansen's "Farthest North" record. Nice copy, scarce in this condition.
