Joseph Rosenblatt. 7 Original Drawings

1971. No Binding. Signed. Fine. Item #49785

Seven original pen-and-ink drawings by Joseph Rosenblatt, Canadian poet and artist, presented in two frames. Frame 1 measures 23 x 17.5 inches and contains four drawings, each measuring approximately 7¾ x 5¼ inches. The drawings are a series of frog illustrations executed in black ink, all signed, with one signed in pencil. Titles include Frogs and Their Fantasies, Run Away Inflation, Bath Hater, and Frogs Surfing on Pond. Frame 2 measures 26 x 18.5 inches and contains three drawings: two measuring approximately 8 x 5.5 inches and one measuring approximately 10.5 x 8 inches. The two smaller drawings are age-toned and show small spots of fading from the verso caused by mounting tape, while the larger drawing is noticeably brighter and executed on different paper. The larger work is signed and dated 1974. Titles include Beach Heat, Myopic Island, and Sun, Fun, Tan. Note: measurements of the individual pieces are taken at the mat opening and the sheets are slightly larger. A nicely presented collection of Rosenblatt drawings. Joseph Rosenblatt lived in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, and was the recipient of Canada's Governor General's Award and British Columbia's B.C. Book Prize for poetry. He was also an accomplished artist whose line drawings, paintings, and sketches often illustrated his own books of poetry as well as those of other poets. -Wiki.
