Copper engraved map, hand coloured. Sheet dimensions [390 x 500mm]. Map dimensions [350 x 450mm]. Vertical fold running along centre of map. Excellent condition. Detailed map of the Old World, based off of the cartography of Claudius Ptolemy. The map shows Europe, North Africa, the Erythraeum Sea (the Indian Ocean), and modern Saudi Arabia. It also has a section of India and the western part of South East Asia. Antonio Zatta (1757-1797) was an Italian cartographer and publisher, known for his large atlas Atlante Novissimo, of which this map was a part of.
