Engraved by Philip Galle. Antwerp (1583). Copper engraved map, hand coloured. Sheet/map dimensions: [130 x 160mm]. Very good condition. Map shows parts of Poland, detailing mountains, forested areas, and towns. Philip Galle (1537-1612) was a Dutch publisher, designer and engraver, known for reproducing engravings of paintings. Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598) was a cartographer and geographer, who is known today as the creator of the modern atlas.
